Ballistic Door & Frame Details
Overview (General Description)
Habershams ballistic door and frame assemblies are engineered for secure openings that require bullet resistant protection across a range of threat levels. Built as complete hollow metal systems, these assemblies combine reinforced doors, frames, hinges, hardware preparations, and optional fire rated performance to support government, institutional, commercial, industrial, and other high security applications.
Product Details:
- Ballistic-Rated Protection: Assemblies can be specified for UL 752 Levels 1-8 on commercial security hollow metal openings, with separate high powered rifle configurations available for NIJ Level IV / UL 752 Levels 9-10 applications.
- High-Powered Rifle Resistance: Specialized door and frame assemblies are available for advanced rifle threat protection, with door face sheets and internal reinforcements configured as required for the ballistic rating.
- Reinforced Door Construction: Doors are built with continuously welded vertical edges, internally reinforced construction, reinforced top and bottom channels, edge reinforcement channels, door face sheets as required for ballistic rating, and hinge/strike reinforcements based on performance testing.
- Coordinated Frame Construction: Frames are built with integral stops, welded construction, reinforced hinge and strike preparations, and frame sections configured around approved submittal drawings, opening requirements, and wall conditions.
- Additional Threat Protection Options: Depending on project requirements, assemblies can also support forced entry resistance, impact testing, blast resistance, and fire ratings up to 3 hours under applicable standards.
- Hardware + Rating Coordination: Mortise hardware, reinforcements, drill and tap prep, and templates are coordinated with the approved hardware schedule. Where rated protection is required, hardware must be selected and coordinated to support the specified performance criteria.
